Opticus
A Satirical Sunglasses Commercial
Opticus is a gloriously self-important parody of luxury sunglasses advertising — complete with overacted glances, godlike voiceovers, and the promise that your entire personality can be fixed by wearing tinted plastic. I contributed as a production assistant, cinematographer, and soundtrack composer, helping to elevate the absurdity with a melodramatic, cinematic score that takes itself just seriously enough to be funny.
On set, I supported creative direction and coordination, helping shape shots that oozed exaggerated confidence and high-fashion nonsense. In post, I composed the original soundtrack to match the tone: bold, polished, and intentionally overblown. Think synth-heavy stares into the void with the emotional weight of a perfume ad that thinks it’s saving the world.
Opticus was a highlight of my uni portfolio — a perfect blend of satire, style, and seriously fun collaboration.
